So here we are at an interesting point where history meets trucks. The original pick-up from Subarus’ arsenal dates back to ’77 when they unleashed the Brat onto unsuspecting roadsides everywhere. Now this might look like a traditional ride by today’s standards, but you gotta remember it was Subaru’s maiden voyage into pickup truck territory and boy did things get interesting quickly. This thing ran on an unibody design that told folks right away don’t expect heavy hauling here. The Brat would handle light-duty jobs with aplomb though; toss in a payload of around 1,000 pounds to start building your mental picture perfect for the casual weekend warrior type looking after some small tasks and chores.

So here we are in ’03 when Suzuki nope. I mean Subaru actually dropped the Baja on us as part-time pickup trucks go with a pretty beefed-up engine under their hood. The boxer 2-fiver gives you an extra oomph, pumping out around that sweet spot of one-sixty-five horsepower and roughly equal torque force at seventeen-zero lb-ft basically making it capable enough to haul stuff without breaking into too much sweat for your rig.

So you know how they took that crazy-popular Subaru BRAT from back in day? Well early ’80 s saw the arrival of its cousin or rather variant -, called GL. Now this one packed a bit more punch, courtesy 1-point-8 liter engine and five-speed manual gearbox combo delivering both snappier performance AND improved fuel economy to boot.

So you know how they dropped this bombshell called Turbo-BBaja back around ’04? Yeah. That thing was packing some serious punch specifically the turbocharged boxer engine under its hood. This little powerhouse cranked out 210 horsepower and a healthy dose of torque, totaling about 235 lb-ft to help it dominate off-road terrain.

So you’re looking for some background on that sweet ride from 2005 we’ve got the lowdown. The Baja L was essentially an upscale version of its standard counterpart. Inside this luxury edition, drivers would find themselves surrounded by top-notch materials like leather trim throughout. There were also a few tech perks thrown in to spice things up think six-disc CD changer and power moonroof for those long road trips or just cruising around town.

So you might be surprised to learn that in certain regions around here they didn’t actually call it ‘Bravo’, nope locals knew this sweet ride as the Subaru Brumby. Now I know what your thinking, What was so different? Well for starters these Aussie-ified versions looked almost identical but with a few cosmetic tweaks and even more importantly? You got fewer choices in terms of customizations.

So the Toyota Tacoma’s offshoot let me tell you about this Baja edition. Released back in ’06 as an upgrade for thrill-seekers like myself. It was allabout performance from day one sport-tuned suspension that hugged every turn, 16-inch alloys giving it a beefy stance on wheels and then there were the unique design touches yeah those stood out too.
