So the idea of owning an oldschool SUV like my friend’s Ford Eco Sport just doesn’t sit right with me. I mean sure it might seem fine on paper  compact size and decent fuel economy are definitely appealing features in this day age. But trust, when you get behind that wheel things take a turn for worse.  The engine is honestly underwhelming; forget about any notion of spirited driving or even getting up to speed without worrying your transmission’s gonna slip. It makes the whole experience feel pretty unrefined compared  I mean we’re talking topnotch rivals here.

Jeep Compass

So I’ve been checking out some Jeeps lately  specifically this one Compass. It’s not doing much to impress me so far though; inside feels pretty cheap with materials that don’t exactly scream luxury, plus the infotainment system looks like it could use an update from a few years ago already giving you those mixed feelings about owning and driving around in your daily life  just doesn’

Hyundai Kona

I’ve gotta say  I really like driving my friend Mike’s Hyundai Kona. It looks sharp on roadsides too. But there are some downsizes you should know about if family is part of your picture or storage space matters that backseat can get pretty cozy, to put it mildly… and the cargo area? Let’s just say we’re talking compact suitcase territory here.  And then come those higher trim levels. Now I’m not gonna lie  they do add some nicetohaves like fancier tech features for your daily dose of smartphone connectivity or whatnot. But when you start to tack on all these extras, the price tag can get pretty steep… so it’s gotta be a good balance between wants and needs if that Kona is going stay within budget.

Chevrolet Trax

The Chevy Trailblazer  I’m not gonna sugarcoat things here. The exterior is definitely showing some age; that design hasn’t exactly aged well over time And underpowered engine doesn’t help matters either, making the whole driving experience feel kinda lackluster To make it even more challenging to justify a purchase in today’s market poor fuel efficiency and no standard safety features That’s gotta be tough for Chevy dealerships trying sell this one.

Fiat 500X

So I’ve been driving the FIAT Bravo lately  it’s not this 500 X specifically but you get my point. The thing is with Italian design like on that little crossover of theirs… people just love how stylish they are, right? But when we’re talking about a car as practical and familyfriendlyseeminglike these small SUVs can be for many buyers out there  having some reliability issues might not fly so well anymore.  Let’s say its acceleration or handling isn’t exactly topnotch either. That alone could deter people from even considering it on the market, given how tough they’ve gotten in this crowded compactSUV space we’re talking about here too now that I think of maintenance costs  yikes.

Mitsubishi Outlander

So I’ve been driving the Mitsubishi Outlander lately  it’s got some new tricks up sleeve after recent updates. Thing is though; that engine still gets on my nerves with all this noise pollution going down in there. And let me tell you, navigating their infotainment system? It can be a real doozy to figure out what they’re trying say… Frustrating doesn’t even begin describe the experience sometimes.  And don’t get started about safety ratings  I mean yeah it’s got some okay scores but not exactly setting my heart racing. So that Outlander just isn’ really doing enough for me when you consider all these drawbacks,

Kia Niro

So I’ve been spending more time behind the wheel of this Kia Niro lately  it’s an interesting little car. On one hand you got your ecofriendly vibes going on with a hybrid powertrain that checks all those green boxes, plus there are plenty features like heated seats and whatnot to make life comfortable for drivers who want them easy rides around town.  On the other side of things though? The Niro’s driving experience just doesn’t grab me as much. It feels slow  almost lazy at times when you’re trying get moving from a stoplight or something, which can be frustrating if traffic is backing up ahead and so on…

Volkswagen TCross

The VW’s got a real gem in the TCross  this little crossover packs some serious punch. You’ve gotta love that compact size making city living easy as pie; plus all those amenities inside? It feels like you’re driving around with your own personal concierge service. But, let me tell ya… take it on an extended road trip and things start to get a bit rough  the ride’s gonna be firm for sure. And if there are more than two of us in backseatland better have some good stretching exercises ready or we’re talkin’ cramped quarters all day long.
